Gunther red wine glass from Val Saint Lambert

Sold

Height 14 cm.
Gunther is produced at Val Saint Lambert from the end of the 19th century until World War II.

The glass is mouth blown crystal glass, facet cut stem in which an air bubble is blown in.
Between the cuppa and stem is a multifaceted knot.

The glass is with a guilloche. This is a technique where the glass is covered with wax in which small copper wheels run accordingly to a fixed drawing. This guilloche is referred to in Val Saint Lambert's original catalogs as "J" and is also on the Adam glass, which is one of Holmegaard's original import services from 1871.

Gunther has also been decorated with another guilloche and is called Modeste - this is probably Holmegaard's rarest glass.
