Antique free masons glass with wooden food

Drinking glasses were relatively expensive to buy in the 1800s, so you were happy to repair your glasses when they broke. That is why this glass has got a wooden base.
Freemason glass is also called Rakkerglas, due to the tradition of racking them.
To rack is to beat the glass on to the table after doing a toast. This was a tradition of inns, bars and the like in the 19th century. Most often the glass would break.

Despite the great production numbers, the Free Masons glass is therefore very rare today.
