Original Anton Michelsen Marguerite Daisy brooch

Sold

Diameter 5 cm.

The color is close to being champagne - please notice the pattern under the enamel.
Originally this Marguerite daisy was made in blue, yellow, red, white and green. When the brooch was designed in 1940, the whites version quickly became the most popular. It is the only one of the five colors that is still in production today.

After World War II the brooch became a symbol of the wish for better times. The marguerite has a great symbolic value for the Danish and Swedish royal houses, due to Queen Margrethe's grandmother, Crown Princess Margaretha of Sweden. The crown princess was also called Daisy and at Queen Ingrid's wedding in 1935 with King Frederik d.9 she was given a jeweled margurite in memory of her mother. Queen Margrethe the 2th wore this as her 'something borrowed' at her wedding in 1967.
