Fine art deco brooch in gold and an oval cut synthetic sapphire surrounded by 8 old cut diamonds. Synthetic gemstones were a relatively new invention around the beginning of the 20th century and people were very impressed by the ability to create large flawless stones. Therefore, these were like put together with precious metals and other genuine gemstones, as in this brooch.

The brooch is in very fine condition.
