Free Masons glass from the late 1800's

Price: 650.- DKK per item

Height 11.5 cm.

Free Mason glas appears for the first time in Holmegaard's catalog in 1853. After the year 1900, they were no longer a part of the catalog. This glass have a straight edge at the foot and is most likely not danish.

Freemason glass is also called Rakkerglas, due to the tradition of racking them.
To rack is to beat the glass on to the table after doing a toast. This was a tradition of inns, bars and the like in the 19th century. Most often the glass would break.

Despite the great production numbers, the Free Masons glass is therefore very rare today.
