Biography:
Lars Bertle (born 1925 in Helsingborg, Sweden) is a self-taught Swedish artist who began painting full-time in the late 1960s. His works range from landscapes and still lifes to abstract compositions, often inspired by nature and the sea. Bertle is known for his expressionist style and use of the palette knife, which gives his paintings a dynamic and tactile quality.
He has held numerous solo exhibitions in Sweden, including at venues such as the Vikingsberg Art Museum in Helsingborg, Galleri HERA in Stockholm, and Galleri Viktoria in Gothenburg. His works are represented in several public collections, including Helsingborg Museum, the Swedish National Public Art Council, and Landskrona Museum.
Bertle has received several scholarships and awards, including the Helsingborg City Cultural Scholarship in 1967 and the Swedish State Artist Grant in 1978 and 1992.
