Bio:
Bengt Lissegårdh (1912–1979) was a Swedish sculptor, colour woodcut artist, graphic artist, and painter, born in Hudiksvall. He studied at the Technical School in Stockholm and attended Hjort and Möllerberg’s sculpture school. In 1936, he studied wood engraving with Eric Gill in England, and from 1941 to 1946 he studied under Erik Grate at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. As a British Council scholarship recipient, he continued his studies in 1946–47 with Henry Moore at Chelsea School of Art and John Farleigh at the Central School of Art in London. Lissegårdh later taught drawing, sculpture, and graphic art and completed numerous public commissions in Sweden. He participated in numerous national and international exhibitions and is represented in collections including the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the Gothenburg Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the New York Public Library.
