Wall-mounted art glass relief with Viking ship, 1970s.
Rectangular wall hanging in deep red/orange glass, signed John Käll in mould and marked ELME SWEDEN. Stylised Viking longship with crew in procession and rolling wave motif.
Origin: Sweden, Elme Glasbruk.
Material: Pressed art glass.
Dimensions: H. 13 cm, L. 36 cm.
Period: 1970s.
Condition: Very good condition with light signs of age and minor mounting marks near the hanger.
Bio:
Elme Glasbruk (1928–1979) in Småland, Sweden, was renowned for its richly coloured pressed glass and decorative Nordic folk-inspired motifs. John Käll was among the designers who created striking wall reliefs and sculptural objects for the modern Scandinavian home.
