Bio:
René de Saint-Marceaux (1845–1915) was a French sculptor trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He debuted at the Salon in 1868 and became recognised for his portrait busts and monumental works. His style is characterised by refined naturalism and psychological sensitivity. Saint-Marceaux was elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts and is considered a significant figure in late nineteenth-century French sculpture.
